Long ago this Creature was simply mortal.
Now the power of a Deity surges inside him, taken with a twisted mixture of dark magics and even darker technologies. Lusting for more power he sends his undying soldiers to Collision.
It is said the light taken from the victims of OtherWorld Ice Magic is collected to preserve his immortality.
It is believed by the Holy Church of OtherWorld that should he perish all of OtherWorld would along with him.
"I wouldn't be here if I wasn't certain Your Majesty. I have the utmost respect for your time." The Scientist said to the King as he absentmindedly stroked his beard. "I can assure you that my research is sound. It may have been accidental the first time but my experiment can now be repeated with accuracy. You have no idea ho-"
The King raised his hand slightly but it was enough to immediately stop the anxious woman. A small bead of sweat made its way down her temple.
"I understand more than you give me credit for." The King's voice had command enough to nearly push the woman back with a mystical force. Her hands began to perspire as she met his cold blue eyes. He stood slowly pushing off the black stone of his throne for assistance despite his youth. If he was towering above her before his presence now consumed her vision. She would not get a second chance to show the correct level of respect. "What you have discovered is a direct result of us being sent here. Calculated discovery if you will."
"I don't understand sire." She responded in a whisper. "I thought you said this was exile?"
"I have read your research in anticipation of your meeting with me today. You have proved a theory that has nagged me since I was a child. A question that has burned in the heart of everyone foolish enough to not see the truth." He seemed to stare off into the distance, his eyes glazing over with an unseen visage. He hadn't heard her. He shook his head and met her gaze again. "You have discovered God."
"I wouldn't say that I have discovered God... Just something... new...." She glanced down at her feet and added, "With all respect sir."
"You created a space containing zero energy from what I understand," He reached into a pocket hidden under his tunic and produced a small stack of folded papers which he opened. She wondered why he would choose to read the report on paper before realizing that they were written not in her hand but the King's. "and despite this a new type of matter.... energy? You aren't sure at this point correct?"
She nodded as he looked up for confirmation.
"Well, whatever this is it remains and forms a complex network. This network, according to neuroscientists, resembles thought. It is only visible when all other things are removed from space; including energy." She nodded again. "You only need to extrapolate further to see what this is Doctor. This is God's very presence."
"I believe that is a bit too immature and primitive a hypothesis for me to follow." She responded.
"You're welcome to study it further but I assure you this is the only conclusion you will come to. I would prefer you be confident in your understanding before I move this project forward." He folded the papers again but made no moves to put them away.
"What project?" Her voice was hesitant. The young face of The Exiled King grew bright with enthusiasm as he started to walk away.
"Well, it only makes sense that if HE exists he can be coerced, contained, or captured." He responded.
"Coerced into what? You're talking about a potential omnipotent being." She asked. He laughed and shook his head.
"He's not omnipotent or omniscient. Otherwise, he would have struck me down the moment I was born to prevent this. As for what.." He turned to face her, his face cast in a blanket of shadow which obscured his expression. "I'm going to put him in a bottle.... and make his power my own."
She watched speechlessly as he left the room; placing the stack of papers back into his tunic. He was mad...
The Exiled King stood atop a pedestal overlooking the gathering of people. Stood beside him, visibly disturbed and overworked was The Scientist. The King was facing away from everyone as he stared into the large transparent tube before him. He had pride in his eyes. He pulled his hand away from the device and began to stroke his beard. The light from the machine seemed to dance off the gray and white locks as he manipulated them. He turned toward the crowd and spread his arms triumphantly.
"It has been sixty years my friends. Six long decades spent atop this world which does all it can to prevent our advancement." He began to pace back and forth across the stage. "My father sent all of us here to die knowing that the species indigenous to this planet was protected and nurtured by an unseen force."
Everyone stared in anticipation as the aged man took a position directly in the middle of the stage. His voice carried the weight of authority and wisdom only obtained by continuously earning one's position and status over many long years of conflict.
"Well, it may be unseen to us... but the FaireFolk who call our new world their commune with IT. IT hears their prayers and answers them readily. They do not need to farm, hunt, or gather. The very planet seems to rise fruit and fauna to aid them. This is well known amongst you; our soldiers come back from the battlefield with strange plants never seen; growing and feeding on their bodies." An air of unease settled over the crowd for a moment.
"Well.... We have discovered where this power comes from and while up until now it has been beyond us.... now...." He gestured toward the machine behind him. "This device can not only isolate the presence of this force but also can remove or add it to an area. I will spare you the exact details at this moment but the important point is that within this cylinder exists a true vacuum containing no energy, matter, or motion. Absolute Zero if you will."
The room was completely silent once again aside from the footsteps echoing across cold metal walls. He once again placed his hand on the surface before looking over at The Scientist and nodding to her. She stepped forward to speak.
"In today's demonstration we will not be removing that force but instead pumping it into this empty chamber. We hope that by forcing more of it together the complex pattern mentioned in the thesis will become denser and therefore more amiable." She pulled out a display from her coat and its light formed out in front of her to animate as she continued speaking. "The device began this process as each of you was coming in so it should not be long now before we see the results."
On the hologram, a series of white and black colored dots formed a lattice in the shape of a sphere. As a white dot entered the frame from the top its light seemed to bounce to the nearest black dot and provide a small amount of illumination before repeating the process with the nearest dot. As this continued each dot slowly gained illumination until all were glowing with a softer but uniform light.
"The black dots on screen represent space while the white respects the presence. As you can see as each white dot enters the space part of its energy is dispersed by the device to shape its intensity." The hologram now displayed a sphere filled with dull white lights. More white dots continued to enter the display from above and it began to grow brighter.
"Once all the space has been filled it will be able to speak to us." The King spoke more to himself than to anyone however the awe within his voice made it audible. "We will be able to speak to it. To touch it."
To contain it... The King thought to himself. Then make it my own... He peered down at the floor below him where a smaller transparent cylinder was housed just below the surface. His eyes shot back forward suddenly as he felt the glass shake under his hand. There you are.
The ground was also shaking and it had become apparent to everyone in the middle of its crescendo. People were shouting suddenly and reaching towards the nearest person for dragging them both down. A light began to shine from within.
"You pervert nature itself with your greed..." The light intensified as the rumbling shaped into the melody of a voice. It spoke in a language none had heard before but understood with unnatural precision. Fear gripped them. "The very ground.... tainted by your 'progress'. Then you spread out to corrupt... No longer...."
The King was motionless.... mute... his mind consumed with the deepest of primal fears. The very ground and air were speaking to them. The light within the cylinder was now blinding even those that closed and covered their eyes.
"Whomever I guide cannot be beguiled... but I have never guided your people... You cast me aside and built monuments to nothing... and now you have done this..."
The air was hot and heavy. It tore at their lungs as they gasped for air, the precious oxygen seemed to burn and betray them as it entered.
"I will send the full force of my plagues against you, your officials, and your people.... those that cast themselves as you do... Must be struck down with a great vengeance and furious anger..."
There was a mechanical whirl as the device beneath him caused the container to rise around him. Unable to see past the Beings light and unable to hear over the rumbling of the voice formed from the shake of the rock the King was unaware. The chamber clicked into place and light began to pour out from the device and surround the Exile.
"... For I am the Lord..."
A sound unlike any other had suddenly pierced through the mind of all living things at that moment. The crying wail of a wounded God. It flooded through them like a wave of brutality itself attacking their very cells.
The King, however...
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!" God pleaded.
...was no longer abated.
"Corrected a wrong which you instilled upon my people at the dawn of time..."
"You speak as though you understand the nature of things... However, you should not boast for you have gained nothing"
"I must disagree ancient creator of knowledge... For your light is now mine... and all that shall be." The Exiled King's eyes began to glow with a white light that traveled down his veins to his heart. He was burning from within but he felt no semblance of suffering.
"All you sow is your suffering..."
The voice had grown faint and those attending could no longer feel the ground shake beneath them; the light that blinded them now flowed from their Majesty. His voice now spoke within their mind.
"Alas a God does not deliver himself peacefully into oblivion. Silence you primitive thing."
"I know a thing..." The voice was suddenly strong once more but only within the mind of the New God. It gripped each edge of his consciousness and tore deeply into it. "A thing which you could not. Deliver your death child for the greatest of my sufferings await you now...Your people will hunger and thirst forever. All you touch will become barren and rotten. Every step you take life itself will retreat away from you. All you will know is suffering."
There was silence for a moment.
"God is dead." Spoke the New Lord as he opened his eyes to truly see for the first time. "And I am all."
He saw past the physical world into what lies beyond. He saw endless realities with countless Universes... And at the center... A world colliding with all of them... Doorways opening within space itself adorned with swirling rainbow light... Trillions entered only to be slaughtered and replaced by trillions more... Monstrosity in physical form.
Cold crept through him.
"Majesty!" The Scientist screamed reaching out with her hands blindly. "Majesty did it work?"
He could not respond. The light circling through his body had lost its warmth. It was taking his instead. Its light was fading.
"Majesty I need to know if it worked!" She tried to open her eyes and 4she could as long as she did not look directly in the direction of the lights. She quickly tried to blink away the scars on her vision.
Frost had begun to creep up and down her body. She followed it to its source.
"Majesty...." She whispered now able to stare directly at the skeletal form producing a faint blue light from its veins. His body had shriveled to reveal the now rotting contours of his muscle and tendon. His skin was dark with frostbite. She felt her blood freeze in her veins.
"With his last breath, he struck out against us..." HE spoke his voice now in their mind. He felt what was happening to his people across the vast planets they called home. His actions had saved them all...
As the Mad God crossed the distance of the room to his throne the ground froze beneath him. The frost crept throughout the structure and out onto the planet where it slowly crept until all was ice. Seating himself comfortably whilst the patrons continued to mourn their mortal form.
"With the power of another though..." He stared at the world at war which only he could see. He opened a Gate in front of him and he smiled.
